Storage of vegetable-based oils and fats and oleochemicals

Fluvia combines its close relationship with the customers of Fluvia Vegoil, Fluvia Tankrode and Fluvia AG with the in-house available know-how and experience of tankstorage and transshipment of liquid cargo’s to offer these customers in addition to transportation services also efficient transshipment and storage.

With the roots of Fluvia Vegoil, Fluvia Tankrode and Fluvia AG and the business logic is a strategic alliance with Vopak Terminals in respective Vlaardingen, Hamburg and Basel a “natural”.

In March 2006 Fluvia acquired Maastank, a tank terminal located in the heart of the port of Rotterdam, for storage of vegetable-based oils and fats and high-quality oleochemicals. The tank installation consists of 48 tanks wit a total capacity of over 39,000 cbm. The terminal has a large jetty for seagoing vessels and a smaller one for inland tankers.

The combination of tank terminal, vegoil fleet (20 inland tankers) and coastal sailing provides Fluvia a strong position to offer clients high-quality transport and transshipment and storage of specialized vegetable-based oils and fats and oleochemicals.

At the end of August 2006, a joint venture was created when Dekker Groep acquired 45% of Maastank. This developed into a unique collaboration between two companies that both have many years of specific experience in the transport and storage of vegetable-based oils and fats and oleochemicals.

In the coming years the shareholders plan to double the capacity of Maastank (from 37 tanks holding 30,000 cbm in 2007 to 90 tanks holding 65,000 cbm in 2012). The infrastructure will also be adapted for storage and transshipment and for handling high-quality special vegoils and oleochemicals. The current jetty capacity and depth will soon be expanded to enable loading and unloading of not only coastal tankers and small-sized seagoing tankers but also the larger seagoing tankers commonly employed for vegoils and oleochemicals.

Through the combination of their strenghts and market positions Fluvia and Dekker intend to make Maastank the number one specialized tank terminal for high-quality specialized vegoils and oleochemicals in the port of Rotterdam. The magnitude and professionalism of the Maastank organization and the capacity of the installation ensure the quality and flexibility that clients desire both today and in the future.
